Becky Phillips and her family left their home in Burlington, Conn., almost 20 years ago bound for Camden, Ind., where they planned to build a farm and a life. They did, and a barn full of cows, horses, and chickens and a three-quarters of an acre garden later she’s reaching out to those in Connecticut, including friends and family who still live in New England, to share her experiences and offer advice on how to live more independently. Gardening, crafting, baking, farming, sewing, she’s done it all. Journal Inquirer associate editor Kimberly Phillips, Becky’s niece, hasn’t ever watched a cornfield grow but appreciates what it took to get a cob from seed to plate. She edits this blog.
