If you’re debating between a fake tree or a real tree…
I think the answer is pretty clear.

So, last week I was driving into Hartford (I-91 south).  As I’m approaching the city, I look to the left side of the highway and there it is… Connecticut’s very own “Man-Made” mountain. You know what I’m talking about, right… That big pile of shit just off the highway, covered with dirt and tarps, with tires scattered about just to keep the tarps in place. Occasionally during the warm weather some grass will grow on it, making it look like some kind of Norman Rockwell-style landscape.  I’m sure any travelers passing through the state look at it and think, “Awe, how pretty”. But we know better don’t we.

When I look at this “man-made” mountain, it makes me think of a dirty politician in Connecticut. Oh sure, it looks pleasant enough when it’s just sitting there doing nothing. But that’s just as long as you don’t stare at it too long. The closer you get to it, you begin to realize, you can see all its imperfections. You don’t dare stand too close to it, in fear that you’ll somehow get dirty just by its mere presents, and before long, you start gagging from the stench of it all.

I say – they should build it up a little higher, and then carve out the faces of four of the more memorable convicted politicians:  John Rowland, Phil Giordano, Joseph Ganim, and Eddie Perez… and they can call it Mount Corruptmore! Not to honor, commemorate or even glamorize their actions, but as a reminder to all past, present and future politicians that these guys are dirty.  I’m sure none of them started out dirty, but after years of compromises and some shady deals behind closed doors, they realize they’re waist deep in shit with little hope of a clean exit. They might even try to side step some accusations, at which point their lies and denials end up getting them deeper in trouble. Their only real hope is to hire a good lawyer, and cut a deal by pointing the blame at someone else.

There’s only one thing worse than politician convicted of being dirty, and that’s a dirty politician that gets away with it.
